Inattentive Symptoms
Often fails to pay close attention to details or makes careless mistakes
Has difficulty sustaining attention
Does not seem to listen when spoken to directly
Does not follow through on tasks
Is often disorganized
Frequently loses things
Is easily distracted
Underestimates the time it takes to complete a task

Hyperactive/Impulsive Symptoms (youth)
Fidgets or squirms in seat
Leaves seat in classroom or other similar situations
Runs around or climbs excessively
In adolescents and adults, reports frequent feeling of restlessness
Often on the go or acts as if “driven by a motor”
Talks excessively, often loudly
Blurts out answers
Has difficulty waiting turns
Interrupts or intrudes on others

Hyperactive/Impulsive Symptoms (adult)
Impulsive spending, talking
Difficulties with anger
Restless feelings or behavior
Frequent automobile violations
Excessive impatience
Poor boundaries, intrusive behavior
Difficulty relaxing

ADHD is not caused by inadequate parenting, watching too much television, sugary foods or artificial food ingredients.
